  • Hamza Perez

    RELIGIOUS DIRECTOR (IMAM)

    Imam Hamza Perez, a renowned Islamic leader, embraced Islam in 1998 and has since become a prominent figure in the global Muslim community. Recognized for his exceptional influence, he has been ranked among the 500 most influential Muslims worldwide by the Royal Strategic Islamic Center of Jordan.

    Imam Hamza has received prestigious Ijazas, granting him the authority to teach and transmit the revered works of Shaykh Uthman Dan Fodio and the esteemed Scholars of the Sokoto Caliphate. Beyond his academic and scholarly pursuits, Imam Hamza is dedicated to empowering inner-city youth in Pittsburgh through innovative programs and mentorship, fostering a brighter future for generations to come.

  • Ibrahim Snow

    PRESIDENT (AMIR)

    Ibrahim serves as the Head of the Masjid Anisa Construction Project and has managed every aspect of the project since its inception. As of June 2024, he is also serving as a newly appointed Amir of Masjid Anisa and the Light of the Age Mosque in Pittsburgh.

    Ibrahim was born and raised in California. In 1993, he embraced Islam and has studied the religion with multiple scholars around the globe. In 2009, he and his family moved to Pittsburgh, PA with the intention of helping to build a thriving Islamic community based upon Islamic principles.

    In his professional life, Ibrahim is an arborist with his own thriving business. His tree service has sustained his family and has provided tree care throughout Allegheny County. He is an integral member of the larger Muslim community in Pittsburgh, and is committed to serving its people in his multiple capacities.

  • Maryam Martin

    BOARD MEMBER

    Maryam Martin plays an important role in a number of Pittsburgh institutions. She is a board member of Masjid Anisa as well as The Muslim Women’s Association of Pittsburgh. In addition, she is currently the National Jaji for the Yan Taru collective, a network of Muslim women leaders that strive to spread sacred Islamic knowledge based on The Quran, sunnah, and the teachings of Sheikh Uthman dan Fodio.

    She has earned degrees in both Architecture and Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. As a second generation artist, her artistic practices include ceramics, printmaking, metals, and glass media. Her work has been featured recently in venues such as the Carnegie Museum of Art, The Mattress Factory, and other art institutions around the country.

    Maryam was born, raised, and currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a daughter, a mother, a wife, a sister, and an auntie. She strives to be a seeker of purposeful knowledge and a lifelong student of Islam.

  • Aisha Dennanatay Stewart

    TREASURER

    Aisha Dennanatay Stewart graduated from Butler County Community College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration and a certificate in Accounting. She is currently enrolled at Slippery Rock University and is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minor in Actuary Science. In addition to being a full-time student, she’s also a notary public.

    Aisha was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and has lived in Pittsburgh, PA since 2005. She has been blessed with opportunities to live and study Arabic in Yemen, Egypt, and Indonesia. “By the will and grace of Allah, there’s a solution to every problem.”

  • Shahid Madni

    FUNDRAISING STRATEGIST

    Shahid Madni is a seasoned leader with a rich background in community engagement and Higher Ed development. He has served in important leadership roles in organizations such as YM, the largest Muslim youth organization in the UK, and Young Citizens, promoting youth participation in politics and civic life. He later joined the Gamaliel Network in the US, training community leaders to build political power and foster interfaith collaboration. As Executive Director of the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, Shahid oversaw strategic initiatives and daily operations for this community center with a weekly footfall of around a thousand visitors. Currently at the University of Pittsburgh, Shahid forges significant connections with distinguished alumni and benefactors, leveraging personal, professional, and philanthropic avenues to secure transformative support for talented Pitt scholars.

    He currently serves as fundraising strategist for Masjid Anisa, helping to engage generous supporters of this noble endeavor in a more meaningful and mutually impactful way.

  • Hajira Qazi

    DESIGN STRATEGIST

    Hajira Qazi is a design strategist with over 10 years of experience as a designer of different capacities. She earned a Ph.D. in design from Carnegie Mellon University in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on the intersection between design and the sacred, and she is passionate about putting her theories to practice by helping religious institutions maximize their impact and achieve their long-term goals. From 2013-2015, Hajira served as the Operations Manager of Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, helping to overhaul the entire institution, including its policies, programming, finances, marketing, social media, branding, and even the space itself. At Masjid Anisa, she serves as the design strategist and project manager, keeping the team on their toes. You can read more about her research and work on her website.
